Abstract (EN)
Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the distribution of persistent primary teeth (PSD) according to tooth groups, age, gender and their current status in the dental arch, and to guide treatment planning for these teeth. Material and Method: In our study, panoramic radiographs taken from patients between the ages of 9 and 16 who applied to Dicle University Faculty of Dentistry for treatment were used. 9,028 radiographs of patients who met the inclusion criteria were scanned. Radiographs of 379 patients with persistent primary teeth were examined for a second time and the findings were noted. In the cases, gender, how many PCDs were present, whether there were permanent teeth underneath, caries, restoration, root canal treatment, apical lesion, presence of root resorption, whether it was in infraocclusion, and its relationship with neighboring teeth were evaluated. The data obtained was analyzed with the Licensed IBM SPSS 21 program. Chi-square analysis was applied when examining the relationships between groups of variables. When interpreting the results, it was stated that there was a significant relationship if p<0.05, and that there was no significant relationship if p>0.05. Results: Considering the results obtained in our study, in terms of treatment options for PSDs, it is preferred to keep these teeth in the dental arch in a controlled manner in treatment planning, as most of them function in normal occlusion and their prognosis is acceptable even at older ages. Conclusion: In the light of the findings, it is possible to ensure that PCDs can be kept in the mouth for many years and serve the individual as a result of correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning.
