Friendship relations and pandemic lives of adolescents attending 9. grade

This study examines friendship relations, which is the essential element of adolescence, in adolescents attending the 9th grade and reveal the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic process on these relations. In this direction, the phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The research group was determined as a total of 21 adolescents, 13 girls and 8 boys, attending the 9th grade, who agreed to participate in the study in line with the purposeful sampling. In line with the purpose, data were collected through online interviews in line with the interview form, which included questions about demographic information, friendship relations, and pandemic lives. The obtained data were first transcribed by the content analysis method, and then the expressions with similar meanings were categorized. Looking at the results of the research, it was seen that adolescents continued their education through different platforms during the pandemic process; they spent most of their time with their phones during the pandemic process, and they used it to follow lessons and social media. Furthermore, it has been observed that online life, which is an output of the pandemic, affects adolescents' friendship relations, such as being away from friends, not meeting, not making friends, and a decrease in the number of friends. Therefore, in this direction, it can be recommended to protect adolescents' friendship relations, protect them from the possible dangers of online life, and provide education standardization.
