Özet (EN)
Increasing use of mobile phones and associated base stations are becoming a widespread source of Radio Frequency Electromagnetic Field (RF-EMF), which is the part of non-ionizing radiation. The rate of exposure to RF-EMF increases with the rapidly evolving technology. As a result of this, increasing public concern has occurred about the probable harmful effects on human health of RF-EMF which is emitted from mobile phones. Therefore, we aimed to examine the chromosomal aberrations of amniotic fluid fetal cells upon RF exposure. For this purpose, we investigated the chromosomal aberrations in human amniotic fetal cells exposed to 900-1800 MHz radiofrequency for 3, 6 and 12 hours (Six groups). Thus, the effects of varying time and frequencies on chromosomes were researched. In our studies, we found that non-thermal RF-EMF caused delays and corruption in chromosome condensation. There was a significant rise in chromosome aberrations with increasing exposure time. When frequencies were compared in each group; only six-hour exposed group had significant difference between 900 versus 1800 MHz (p=0.0001) frequencies. In conclusion; we found that RF-EMA had negative effects on chromosomes, moreover these effects aggravated with exposure time.
