An assesment over school management perception of cadets of Diyarbakir A.Gaffar Okkan Police Vocational School

This study is conducted over the issue of qualification and service attitudes of management cadre of police vocational school. Main focus of the study is how police cadets perceived their chain of command in the school. The study explores management literature by describing concepts, management approaches, and historical evolution of management science. Apart from this, security concept and its evolution is explored. Within this line security and police service is explored throughout the history both in the world and in Turkey. Education in general context police training in particular is described. Afterwards, organizational structure of education departments in the Turkish National Police is examined within two headings: police basic training and in-service training. Since the main focus of this study is basic police training, police vocational schools is examined in a separate chapter. In this chapter, organizational structure, admission, training process, curriculum, field training, and administration of police vocational schools is examined in detail. This study is a case study which is conducted on A. Gaffar Okkan Police Vocational School. In methodology chapter, purpose of study, hypothesis, limitations, methodologies is explained with theoretical context. A survey was conducted over cadets of Diyarbakır A. Gaffar Okkan Police Vocational School in order to measure perception of police cadets on administrative and social management, academic management of the school. Results of the survey is analyzed and hypothesis of the study is tested. In the light of the result of the study some policy recommendations is offered in order help to increase quality of basic police training in Turkish Police.
