Abstract (EN)
Abbaras show the feature of being one of the important structures of Mardin from past to present. The emergence of abbaras, which have a remarkable architectural structure and were built for various purposes in Mardin, is shaped due to geographical reasons. The research area covers more than 50 abbaras in Mardin. The border of the study area is the old city of Mardin and is determined by the neighborhoods where the abbaras are located. Abbaras can be seen as a building unit that emerged due to geographical reasons. The research was started by researching the abbaras found in Turkey and called by different names. By looking at the names of the Abbaras in various provinces, the purpose of use was examined. By visiting the research area, data were obtained by on-site investigations and field studies. In this thesis, the geographical importance of the abbaras, which has an important place for Mardin, has been examined. The aim of this study is to examine how the abbara structures in the province of Mardin, which was built on a rough land, were affected by the topography and to emerge in the geographical context, the existence of abbaras in Mardin, which was built on a sloping and steep land, and the city-topography connection is investigated. tried to be revealed. In the first part; A scientific framework is being created for the physical geography of Mardin province. In the second part; After creating a conceptual framework for abbaras, the reasons underlying the different naming of structures similar to abbaras in various provinces in Turkey are mentioned. In the third chapter, which deals with the abbaras of Mardin; The geographical meaning of the abbaras, their distribution, the effect of the climate and the topography function are emphasized. In the fourth and last part, field questions about the abbaras in Old Mardin were asked to the observers and various opinions about the abbas were collected.
