A research on values education in Abbas CILGA's children's novels

In this research, ten children's novels published by Abbas Cılga, who graduated from Village Institute, worked as a teacher, manager and inspector, and wrote many works in the field of children's literature, were discussed. A research and examination on values education is aimed. In this study, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The research area of this research is the identified works of Abbas Cılga. The Schwartz Value Scale was used to determine the values. Content analysis and descriptive analysis methods were used to support the qualitative research study in the analysis of the values in the ten books written by Abbas Cılga. This examination was carried out in the form of reading, filing and classifying the works that are the subject of the research. There are 10 main values and 57 sub-values in the Schwartz Value Scale. In the analyzed stories, 10 main values and a total of 2301 values related to them were determined. According to this; 515 self-direction; 314 benevolence; 274 compliances; 254 powers; 216 hedonism; 202 security; 146 arousal; 139 universalism; 126 traditions; 115 success core values have been identified. Within the scope of the general purposes of children's literature, it is aimed that the child gains some knowledge, skills and experiences while having fun. The works of Abbas Cılga are rich in value. This will create a wealth of life for students. The research concluded that there are many values in the reviewed works of Abbas Cılga that encourage the student to think, make independent decisions in action, and other values. The works of Abbas Cılga can be used in values education. It is recommended to be included in school libraries.
