Abstract (EN)
This study; called construction Activities in the Abbasid cities, covers the Abbasid reconstruction activities in Abbasid and other cities in the period starting after Baghdad to the construction of the capital: Samarra. Construction activities include 86 years of approximate 500 years of Abbasid reign civilian, military and religious architecture. Through this study, while exploring the establishment of a new city and architectural activities for cities before the Abbasid era is being studied, the activities like reconstruction, repair and restoration works are primary concern. Eight Abbasid caliphate periods are included for the architectural activities around the cities and their surroundings. The similarities and differences between previous Ummayyad reign architecture are compared in reviewing the reconstruction activities. In the light of provided references, the cities like Baghdad conquested by Abbasids were intended to be converted to an Islamic urban model, and also implementing this model to the newly constructed cities set precedent for the new settlements. These new built cities are superior in providing wealth, society, population, trade and cultural attributes when compared with other contemporary cities of the time.
