Abstract (EN)
The Cold War was a long struggle that began between the United States and the Soviet Union after the surrender of Hitler's Germany. The Nazi aggression against the USSR in 1941 turned the Soviet regime into an ally of Western democracies. However, increasingly divergent perspectives in the post-war world have created rifts between once allies. Since 1947, the two enemies have clashed in a long strategic and ideological conflict punctuated by crises of varying intensity, using all the resources at their disposal to intimidate and destroy. Although the two great powers have never fought directly, they have brought the world to the brink of nuclear war many times. Nuclear deterrence has been one of the effective ways to prevent a military conflict. Ironically, this "balance of terror" actually served as an incentive for the arms race. There have been varying moments of détente or periods of tension between the two camps as relations improved. Political expert Raymond Aron defined the Cold War system as follows: ''Impossible peace, improbable war.'' The United States and the USSR gradually created their own zones of influence, dividing the world into two opposing camps. Therefore, the Cold War was not only a struggle between the USA and the USSR, but also a global conflict that affected many countries, especially the European continent. One of the countries affected by this process was Cuba, one of the Latin American countries. In response to the self-interested plans of the USA and Latin America on Cuba, the support provided by the USSR to Cuba and leader Fidel Castro's struggle for independence changed the balance. Despite the important literature that has already emerged, the fact that there is a lot of information to be learned about international relations during the Cold War and the Cuban revolution may make studies in this field valuable. The aim of this study is to take a broad perspective on the Cold War period and multilateral relations that influenced the Cuban revolution and to provide a source that can be used as a resource for future studies. As a result of the literature review, it was understood that the effects of the Cuban revolution on the Cuban people during the cold war and even in the period after the cold war were undeniably important. In addition, it has been seen that the political and economic practices of two superpowers such as the USA and the USSR on Cuba were directed in a balanced way, thanks to the leader Castro and the groups that supported independence.
