Abstract (EN)

Molla Abdullah Nursî is an important figure who lived in the province of Bitlis, located in the Eastern Anatolia region of present-day Turkey, during the Ottoman Empire. Molla Abdullah, after benefiting from renowned figures who taught in the madrasas of Bitlis and its surroundings, also taught students himself. Research has identified only three works attributed to him, indicating that he likely did not produce many works due to his early death. His superiority in Islamic sciences is evidenced by his work titled "el-Kelimâtu'l-vefiyye bi Şerhi'l-Ma'fuvvâti'l-Halîliyye," which is a commentary on Molla Halil's treatise "Ma'fuvvât." Although his commentary is in the field of jurisprudence, it is observed that he sometimes overtly and sometimes covertly employs language rules. It is seen that Molla Abdullah, along with three others, commented on Molla Halil's treatise, indicating that a total of four people commented on it. Since the first commentary was by Molla Abdullah, it is noticed that those who wrote commentaries on Molla Halil's treatise benefited greatly from him. Nursî, an important scholar of the later period of the Shafi'i school, in his work "el-Kelimâtu'l-vefiyye," based on the works of previous scholars, presents the ijtihads made within the school, the fatwas given, the preferred opinions among different views, and the controversies in a wide perspective regarding the topic of ma'fuvvât. Molla Abdullah sometimes discusses issues unrelated to ma'fuvvât. Thus, it is seen that his commentary is more comprehensive than the other mentioned works. In this study, after providing information about Nursî's general situation, life, scholarly personality, and works of his time, a comprehensive examination of "el-Kelimâtu'l-vefiyye" is made, which is our subject. Molla Abdullah's commentary detail, his merging of the text with the commentary, and explanation of juristic terms are presented under headings of commentary methods, and his commentary is compared with other commentaries written on Molla Halil's text in bullet points. As a result of the research, it is determined that Molla Abdullah conducted an original study in his commentary. It is observed that he does not unconditionally agree with every view he utilizes in his work and criticizes when he deems necessary.
