Abstract (EN)

This study focuses on the life, art, and works of Abdullah Ziya Kozanoğlu (1906-1966), who was the pioneer of historical adventure novel of the Turkish literature, and also on how he influenced youth emotionally through his novels.Kozanoğlu, who was among the most prolific figures of our literary history, gave works in many literary genres such as novel, drama, story and columns. He began his literary career with poetry and took the actual place in literary history with his identity as a novelist. His novels are among the best-selling, most-read and the most film-inspiring literary works. In our study these works are analyzed according to the methods of novel criticism. How the novels influenced young people emotionally is also touched upon in the study.Abdullah Ziya was among the writers who served Turkish literature in his more-than-40-year writing life and shed light to his period and the history of the Turkish nation with his works, and made intense efforts, from the declaration of the republic until his death, for the adoption of the newly-established regime by the society. He endeavoured to create a new Turkish identity mingled with the concept of Turkishness. He was one of the forgotten figures of our literature who aimed to have young people gain awareness and love of history, and yet who we think has not so far received the interest and value he deserved.Pioneering in many fields, Kozanoglu, as a novelist, dramatist, architect, sportsman, and a versatile person, is an important figure of the history of Turkish literature and culture, who ought not to be neglected.Key Words: Abdullah Ziya Kozanoğlu, Historical Novel, Novel Characters, Setting, Narrator and Perspective, Techniques of Narration, Emotional Development and Youth
