Özet (EN)

The Relationship Between the Thyroid Hormone Levels and The Mortality of the Inpatients Admitting in Internal Medicine Intensıve Care Unit From Emergency ServiceObjectives: The mortality level among the aged inpatients staying in the intensive care unit is considerably high. Here in this study, it was aimed to define the thyroid hormones that help in estimating the mortality of the older patients (over 55) staying in internal intensive care unit and the correlations between by using glasgow coma scale, acute physiological and chronic health evaluation II, Simplified Acute Physiological Score II.Materials and Method: 73 patients, being 48 men (65.8 %) and 25 women (34.2 %), were used in the study. The determinants used in estimating the mortality among the patients were defined follows; age, acute physiological and chronic health evaluation II, simplified acute physiological score II, glasgow coma scale , the leukocyte count in serum, hemoglobin, c reactive protein, free triiodothyronine, free thyroxin, triode stimulating hormone, prothrombin time, active partial thromboblastin time, albumin, ferritine.Findings: the average age among the exitus and discharged patients was not statistically significant. However, the average length of stay in hospital was meaningful. No statistical relation was found between the prognostic determinants of acute physiological and chronic health evaluation II, leukocyte count, c reactive protein, prothrombin time, free triiodothyronine, free thyroxin, throid stimulating hormone and hemoglobin with the mortality. Statistically significant relation was observed between mortality and high levels of Ferritine, active partial tromboblastin time, glasgow coma scale, simplified acute physiological score II and low levels of albumin. Conclusions: It was determined that the measurements of simplified acute physiological score II, glasgow coma scale, ferritine, albumin and active partial thromboblastin time may be used in the prediction of mortality of aged inpatients staying in internal medicine intensive care unit.
