Physical development of Yüreğir district, Adana province between the years 1950-1986

This study is survey of the urban history of the town of Yüreğir which forms the eastern side of the city of Adana and the Seyhan River. As the main material of the study, which aimed to reveal the transformation of the demographic, urban, social, cultural and economic structure in the period from the first formation of Yuregir District to reach the boundaries of the district in 1986, and to trace the physical change it went through between 1950-1986 at the city and neighborhood level; literary sources, archival documents, maps, aerial photographs and interviews were used. Within the scope of the study, materials were analyzed using four different methods: content analysis, morphological analysis, image analysis and oral history research. As a result of the study, the change in Yüreğir's physical structure is revealed. This master thesis, which focuses on the urban-morphological development of Yüreğir district, has aimed to fill an important gap in the history of the city of Adana.
