An investigation on the usage of structural steel in the restoration studies of some historical buildings found in Adana and immediate surrounding

In this study, building survey and restoration decisions of 5 immovable cultural property, whose renovation was made or planned using steel construction materials, have been discussed in detail in order to analyse the uses of steel construction materials, which is a modern material, on renovation reinforcement and restoration of historical buildings.Firstly, the types of selected buildings are identified within the context of building classification according to functions and carrier systems of historical buildings. Then, definitions of the buildings in question have been made in detail in accordance with building survey and supplements which are approved by Adana Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage Regional Committee. After making detailed descriptions of current situation or situation before renovation of immovable cultural properties, the intervention decisions that planned to make have been discussed in detail according to the restoration projects and attachments that have been approved by APCANHRC.It is thought that findings we have as a result of determination of intended use of structural steel material on restoration decisions will be light to studies which will be made later.
