Abstract (EN)
This study is aimed to determine energy consumption of input and output used in cotton production and making a cost analysis in Adana region. The data were collected from 60 cotton farms by using a face to face questionnaire method. The farms were divided into three groups (0,1-5,0) ha, (5,1-10) ha and (10,1 +) ha . The results of research showed that the energy consumption for chemical fertilizers was respectively on three groups 33626,8 MJ/ha, 31780,2 MJ/ha ve 32660,3 MJ/ha. Value of energy consumption showed that Mechanization was in second place, Fuel-oil energy was in third place. Energy analyses are a fundamental approach in defining and classifying the agricultural production systems in terms of energy consumption level. Energy input and output rates are used by the firms that are producing cotton, for a good and efficiency production. The ratio between energy consumption per unit agricultural production area and having equilavent crop energy from same field is a good indication for how much the production is profitable. As a result of cost analysis, the value of the highest profit enterprises was calculated as 1141.2 TL / ha in the 10.1 + ha farms. All farms groups were considered together, according to the year of 2011 the average profit of the production was calculated as 1030.4 TL / ha .
