Evaluation of forensic reports due to gunshot injury cases prepared by forensic medicine department

Introduction and Aim: In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the cases of firearm injury, whose judicial reports were issued by the Department of Forensic Medicine. Material and Method In this study, a judicial report was requested from the Dicle University Faculty of Medicine Department of Forensic Medicine between 01 January 2018 and January 01, 2022 and 4500 cases arranged by us were scanned and 312 gunshot injury cases were retrospectively examined. Results: 22.1% of the 312 cases evaluated within the scope of the study occurred in 2018, 11.2% in July, 33.7% in summer, 63.8% in the provincial center. The prosecutor's office requested a report from 49.0% of the cases. 88.5% of the cases are male, 30.4% are in the 21-30 age range and 87.2% are adulthood. 73.1% of the cases were injured by pistols and so on. such as short-barreled grooved weapons, 19.9% of the cases were injured by a shotgun-pompal rifle and so on. such as long -barreled weapons. 47.4% of the cases were injured by a familiar person. 46.5% of the cases applied to the university hospital, 33.3% were discharged from the emergency room without hospitalization, 55.4% had surgery, 32.4% of the vital danger, 59.6% bone fracture, 9.0% of the senses or organs of one of the continuous slimming or loss of, 2.2% caused distinct mark on the face, 1% of the injuries was found to be slightly to the extent that it can be relieved by a simple medical intervention. Conclusion: As in all over the world, the cases of firearm injury in our country are quite common. It is thought that personal armament, which is done by illegal methods, has an effect on the prevalence of injuries due to firearms. Keywords: Forensic Case, Gunshot Injury, Forensic Report
