Abstract (EN)

Sports nutrition is a major contributor to training and genetic factors in improving sport performance. The higher the awareness of the athletes about the athlete's feeding, application rate will be higher. Awareness about sports nutrition is very important if they will consider the performance of the athletes themselves, or if they will be trained in the future. For this purpose, we worked to measure the Awareness of the Students of ADU Scool of Physical Education and Sports on Sports Nutrition. Based on the principle of volunteering, we conducted a survey study between ADM Physical Education and Sports students between 10 May 2017 and 10 June 2017. We used a 3-part questionnaire as a data collection tool. The first part of the questionnaire consists of questions to determine participants' demographics (26 questions), second part to determine nutritional habits (19 questions) and third part to answer questions on sports nutrition and nutrition knowledge levels (40 questions). The questions addressed to the participants Kocak (Koçak, 2008), Baysal (Baysal, 2009), Gunes (Güneş, 2013) and Ersoy (Ersoy, 2012). The questions were evaluated and presented to the experts. Statistical analyzes were performed using SPSS 20.0 and p <0.05 was considered significant. The sample of the study is a total of 931 persons consisting of 257 persons from the Coaching Department, 253 persons from the Physical Education Teaching Department, 236 persons from the Recreation Department and 185 persons from the Sports Management Department. 585 (62.8%) of the participants were male and 346 (37.2%) were females. Of the participants, 851 were not elite athletes and 80 were elite athletes. Participants indicated that 532 received nutrition education and 351 received schooling (lesson) of nutrition education. The majority (313) of participants in nutrition training stated that they found adequate nutrition education. The relationship status of athlete nutrition and nutrition education was 40 items and 22 items were significant (p <0.05). 15 items were significant (p <0,05) when 40 items were assessed as whether the athlete was an elite athlete or not. It can be said that Athlete Nutrition and Nutrition Information Levels are related to 2 items in the subject of branch change. The fact that Item 12 is close to "0" indicates that the level of relationship is higher. In the evaluation of information questions according to frequency analysis; the percentage distribution of the correct answers given by all the students was determined as 47.80%. Percent distribution of correct answers according to whether or not they have nutrition education; 44.27% of those who do not have nutrition education; 45,67% of nutrition education from the trainer; Nutrition education from school 50,73 %; 43.71% of those who are on nutrition education from the internet; 50,21% of those who were educated from more than one source were found. Percent distribution of correct answers according to elite status; elite athletes 47.72%; and non-elite athletes were found to be 47.20%. Percentage of correct answers according to branch status; basketball was 49.62 %; wrestling 47,41 %; football 46.54%; volleyball 48.84%; athletics was 48.86% and the other branches were 47.48%.
