Prof. Dr. Suphi URALIn this study, recovering unburned carbon particles by flotation process fromAf in Elbistan Power Plant fly ashes is studied.To determine unburned carbon ratio in the fly ashes chemical analysis weremade. As a result of these analyses in ash sample contains 6,5 - 9 % unburnedcarbon. The most important problem for recovering the unburned carbon particleswas the high level of the pulp pH. For this reason solid/liquid ratio of the pulpdetermined. Flotation experiments were made by using 7-8 pH level.At experiments to recover carbon particles best results are achieved at 7,7 pHlevel, with 5 % solid ratio, at 40 minutes condition time, by using 70 kg/t sodiumsilicate, 14 kg/t petrolium sulfonate, 56 kg/t fuel oil. To increase selectivity 3 stepsflotation experiments are made. In 1-step experiments 81,79 %, in 3 stepsexperiments 59,74 % recover efficiency was achieved.Key Words: Fly Ash, Unburned Carbon, FlotationII
