ABSTRACT ÂŞIK PENAHİ EMİRLİOĞLU, WHO IS FROM AFŞİN, HIS LIFE, ART AND WORKS BOYUNDURUK, Adnan Master's Thesis Department of Turkish Language and Literate Thesis Advisor: Assistant Professor Doctor, Mustafa GÜLTEKİN May 2019, 259 pages Abstract The tradition of minstrelsy is one of the most important treasures of Turkish culture that has its own rules and performances. In the period they lived, minstrels reflected the desires, emotions and thoughts, aesthetics, cultural and political values of the people in their works. In this sense, the point of minstrels is crucial in maintaining the tradition of minstrelsy. It was found that Âşık Penahi, growing up in master-apprentice training, trained apprentices by himself and he is a living representative of minstrelsy tradition. First of all, in this thesis it was given information about the representatives of minstrelsy tradition in the district of Afsin in Kahramanmaras province, the environments inhabited by tradition, the current status of tradition and then the life, art, works of Âşık Penahi, growing up in minstrelsy tradition in Afsin district, the functions of the works, the creation and transfer contexts of the works were viewed.
