Abstract (EN)
State of Aghlabid was founded in 800 B.C. in Ifriqiye. When Emir İbrahim was the governor of Zâb, he became the governor of Ifriqiye and then he was allowed, by Hârûn Reşid the Khalifa of Abbâsîd, to found an emirate to be transferred from father to son. İbrahim founded the emirate and his sons maintained it. The emirate, which lasted for 109 years, was governed by 11 emirs. In 909, with the riot of the Fâtımîd dai of Abû Abdullah eş-Şiî, the last emir III. Ziyâdetullah escaped to the east leaving the capital behind. When Khalifa el-Mehdi took hold of the capital Rakkâde, the emirate virtually fell. Aghlabid could not have the reliance and stability since 661 when conquests of Islam started; on the contrary the area became a field for riot and battle of Hârici, Berberî and Arabian soldiers. This chaos atmosphere, which had lasted for half of a century, grew violent with the disconnected implementations from the local community, wrong enforcements, cruelty of Emevi and Abbâsîd governors. Neither of the two could gain dominance in the area. Hârûn Reşid wanted to solve this by founding an emirate that is up to him with a local dynasty, that's why İbrahim founded the Aghlabid emirate. With the foundation of the emirate, a stable and reliance atmosphere was formed, and then progress of the trade and social life enhanced the welfare of the community. Economic and agricultural reconstruction was got off the ground as a government policy, rational and religious sciences were studied and the cities were built with architectural works. Their effect reached to Europe over Andalusia on one side and on the other side over Sicily that they conquered. On the other hand, since they were the first to be a Sunni Islamic state in the area, they have an outstanding place in the Islamic history with their existence that had lasted for a century.
