The purpose of this study is to shed light on a valuable scholarly work, which is "Ahmad Zaini Dahlan's Hashiya on Al-Zabd by Ahmad ibn Raslan" by Imam Ahmad Zaini Dahlan (d. 1304 AH). The scope of the study is a chapter on Tayammum, The importance of this explanation comes from the prominent scholarly position of the book "Al-Zabad", which is considered the most famous, common and widespread book of Shafi'i jurisprudence, and from the author's scholarly position, he was the Shafi'i mufti of the Hijaz in his era, and he played a major role in combating deviant movements and ideas, most notably Wahhabism, and what he wrote in responding to them and explaining their danger. This study relied on three handwritten copies, one of which was a copy copied from the author's handwriting and written in his time. The study followed the historical descriptive approach when translating both the author of the text and the author of the footnote, presenting their biography and scientific biography, and the method of investigation and commentary on the investigated text. The most important findings of this study are as follows: In his explanation, the author relied on other explanations of the book, such as the explanation of Fath al-Rahman by al-Ramli and others, and he used the well-known opinions of the public while discussing issues and giving preference to controversial issues. The book was brief and comprehensive, and did not elaborate on its explanation by mentioning the arguments, sayings, and responses to them. The author did not limit himself to the Shafi'i school of thought only, but rather he cited the sayings of the other jurisprudential school of thought from the Hanafi, Maliki, and Hanbali schools, and he took the preferential path after collecting the sayings and comparing them, Such as his opinion that tayammum using usurped soil is permissible, and other issues. He also mentioned in his book what the scholars agreed upon, such as their consensus that tayammum is specific to the face and hands. He did not neglect to mention the jurisprudential differences between the imams of the school of thought, such as mentioning the issues in which Al-Shihab Al-Ramli and Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami differed, and the evidence they relied on. In general, the book contained many jurisprudential and fundamental benefits. Its aim was to simplify issues, preserve them, and bring meanings closer to the mind.
