Abstract (EN)
This study was performed to determine the abrasion resistances of some varnish layers used on wood materials. For this purpose, test samples prepared from Oriental beech (Dk), European oak (Sm), Scotch pine (Sç), Black walnut (Kc), Black poplar (Kk) and Basswood (I) woods, were which met the requirements of TS 2470, were coated according to ASTM D 3023 standards with synthetic (Sn), polyurethane (Pü), waterborne (Sb), cellulosic (Sl) and acidhardening (As) varnishes. One (1L), two (2L) and three layers (3L) have been varnished samples of abrasion resistances were determined in accordance with TS 4755.At the end of the tests, it was observed that, according to wood species, the highest abrasion resistance was obtained in black walnut (168,9 rpm), and the lowest abrasion resistance was obtained in scotch pine (50,63 rpm); according to varnish species, the highest abrasion resistance was obtained in acidhardening (213,4 rpm), and the lowest abrasion resistance was obtained in waterborne (45,44 rpm); according to thickness of layer, the highest abrasion resistance was obtained in 3L (149,6 rpm), and the lowest abrasion resistance was obtained in 1L (38,30 rpm). In accordance with the interaction of the factors wood type, varnish type and layer type, the highest abrasion resistance was found at interaction of black walnut + acidhardening + 3 layers (578,0 rpm), and the lowest abrasion resistance was found at interaction of oriental beech + waterborne + 1 layer (11,50 rpm).In this regard, abrasion resistance makes difference according to wood type, varnish species and amount of layer thickness. In abrasion resistance, wood type and varnish species are efficient in the first degree and layer thickness is in the second degree. It can be said that in wooden parquets and place floorings which the abrasion resistance is important in, the varnish application with 3 layers acidhardening + black walnut can provide an advantage in this respect.
