A qualitative research on religious and values education activities forchildren in need of protection in institutions of the Ministry of Familyand Social Services

This study is a field research that aims to examine religious and value education given by the Presidency of Religious Affairs in the Houses of Affection (Sevgi Evleri), Child Houses (Çocuk Evleri) and Children Support Centers (Çocuk Destek Merkezleri). In the research method of this study, the qualitative method is adopted that prioritizes meaning and depth. An in-depth interview technique is used to obtain comprehensive data on the purpose of the study and the determined subject. The sample of this study consisted of 27 Religious employees in charge of these institutions who are selected by considering their convenience level. The data obtained by compiling the answers to the semi-structured interview questions posed to the participants were analyzed using the content and descriptive analysis method. In the research, firstly the children who needed to be protected and then the activities of the Presidency of Religious Affairs for the children who needed to be protected under the care of the institution were discussed. In the last part of the study, issues such as the necessity and importance of the current education of religion and values given to children in need of protection in institutional care, determining the inadequate and improvable aspects, determining the expectations and needs of the children regarding the religious services provided, and identifying the problems faced by the personnel are revealed in the perspective of the opinions and thoughts of the Religious personnel. Opinions, suggestions and methods that can be presented are included on these issues.
