Abstract (EN)
Education is a quite big platform that consists of teacher, student and parents triangle. One of the important factors which affect the academic successes of students is how their parents have an approach to their education. Many situations such as parents's minds and attendance to education process, parents's expectatiton from the student, relationship with teacher and socioeconomic conditions, affect students academic success positively or negatively. The purpose of this study is to determine the variables affecting students' TEOG achievements with the perspective of the families in Tunceli that became the first ranking in Turkey in TEOG success and examine the contribuiton of parents to this success. The parents whose students took part in TEOG exam in Tunceli, form the universe of the research that is about TEOG exam. These parents are parents of the students studying at public and private secondary school and having taken TEOG exam in 2016-2017. In this research, a 60 question questionnaire was applied to the families whose students became successfull in TEOG exam and got accepted into an educational institution. The questionnarie conatins questions that aim to determine the students' some personal information about their TEOG achievements and the variables affecting students' TEOG achievements. This study is a descriptive research being done in quantification type in scanning model. Tunceli is a province that has been first in Enterance to High School Exam (TEOG), which is used to enterance for high schools, in Turkey for three years. Furthermore, this province is the most successful city according to Turkish Statistical Institute's (TUIK 2016) cities' life index research. The research, being done in Tunceli that took attention of many institutions and people with it is acievements in Entrance to High School Exams (TEOG) in Turkey, has these results: How students direct their academic career according to their parents, which precautions are taken,students' behaviour patterns, students' motivation and anxiety level and their study habits and strategicies providing success or failure in TEOG. The features, such as having a democratic family attitude, satisfying students' sociocultural and psychological demands, caring their academiş life, helping them in their life, affect their TOEG achievements positively. According to families, attitude of teachers towards to students, classroom management, the style of lecture, teachers' ability to motivate students' to the exam and lessons, also affect TEOG success. Similarly the physical and sociocultural opportunities of school, attitude of school principals towards students and an affective and accesible counseling service, are another effective factor according to families. Finally the content of education program, its compliance with TEOG system, and how to apply the exam was expressed as significative factors on students' TEOG achievements by their families. This survey, focusing on the opinions of families, being an important component of the education system, on students' TEOG achievements, is a study for filling an important gap in the literature.
