Academicians' awareness of information management behaviors and reference management tools in the scientific research process: The case of Ordu University

The study is one of the few studies analyzing the concept of information management at individed level which is that at corporate level in the literature. Topics such as "scientific research process" "information retrieval systems" "individual information management process" and "functions of individual resource management tools" were included in the study. The study aims to determine the information behaviors of academicians and to present their awareness of using resource management tools, basically. Due to being target audience of the study, the general-specific behaviors of scientists during information management and their awareness levels of resource management tools are handled with a descriptive method. The population of the study consists of 748 academicians who work actively at Ordu University. The sample of the study where the survey application was performed as a data collection tecnique consist of 267 academicians. By analyzing the survey data, the results which account for the purpose and assumptions of the research were obtained. Important results are reached for managers of universities, academic units and academic library units in the research.
