Marble potential of carbonates between Akhisar-Saruhanli

Abstract (EN)

In the comprise of this thesis, twelve marble quarries which contains the carbonates located in northern part of Manisa and which have been very important in recent years, were analyzed in the point of view of marble producing. Many new marble quarries are being opened nowadays. The quarries are located between Akhisar and Saruhanlı (Western Turkey, Manisa). Samples were taken from the quarries and searched in micro and macro dimension.Coordinates of marble quarries were measured with GPS and signed on 1/25000 geological map.Thin sections were made from the samples and investigated under polarized microscope. Also these samples were classified according to the principles of ?Carbonate Classification System?. Fossils which samples include, ages of the marble quarries were determined.In the end of these studies, analysis, investigations and searches of other thesis and projects about this area, continuity of the formations were determined in the studying area. Also the formations signed on the geological map.
