Endogamy marriage attitude scale: A methodological study

Aim: The objective of this study was developing the Endogamy Marriage Attitude Scale. Material and Method: The study is methodological. The universe of the study consisted of individuals who were living in Erzincan Central. The universe of the study consisted of individuals who were enrolled in Erzincan Central district family health centers and the sample of the research consisted of 330 individuals who were enrolled in six family health centers selected by draw from there and agreed to participate in the study voluntarily. The data were collected with the "Individuals Introductory Form" and "Endogamy Marriage Attitude Scale". Findings: Kaiser Meier Olkin (KMO) analysis was performed to determine the availability of the scale for the size of participants. The sample a dequacy calculated as the KMO value was 0.916 and the Bartlett's Test of Sphericity (X2 = 5251.515 p<0.000) sample size analysis value was found to be sufficient for factor analysis. The scale was divided in to six sub-dimensions, explaining that the total variance was found to be %62.764. The Cronbach Alpha coefficients of the scale are; the first factor "Acceptive Attitude" alpha=0.919, the second factor "Social Values" alpha=0.856, the third factor "Social Pressure" alpha=0.784, the fourth factor "Risk Perception" alpha=0.820, the fifth factor "Health Perception" alpha= 0.743 and the sixth factor "Legitimating Myths" alpha=0.615. Compliance indices of scalec on firmatory factor analysis were examined and it was observed that x2/df, CFI, NFI, NNFI, RMSEA, GFI and AGFI indices met acceptable values.
