Effect of Training Based on Knowledge-Motivation-Behavioral Skills Model on Medication Compliance, Anthropometric-Metabolic Parameters, Sleep and Quality of Life in Acromegaly Patients The research was conducted to determine the effect of education based on the knowledge-motivation-behavioral skills model on medication compliance, anthropometric-metabolic parameters, sleep, and quality of life in acromegaly patients. The sample of the single-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study consisted of forty-two acromegaly patients. The data in the study were collected using TBF, SAEUDF, İUBÖ, PUKİ, and ACROQOL measures. Three measurements were applied based on the IMB model: baseline (pre-intervention), eighth week post-intervention, and sixteenth week post-intervention. Anthropometric and metabolic measurements of the patients were made at temporal intervals, and SAEUDF, IUBÖ, PSQI, and ACROQOL were filled in. In the analysis of data, Independent Sample-t, ANOVA, Repeated Measures, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H, Friedman, Pearson, and Spearman correlation coefficients were used. The significance level of the study was accepted as (p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was found when injection compliance and scale scores were compared over time (p<0.05). According to the initial measurement results of the patients before the intervention based on the IMB model, it was observed that injection and medication compliance, sleep, and quality of life increased in the eighth and sixteenth weeks after the intervention. When biochemical findings are compared over time; A statistically significant difference was determined in albumin, HDL, hemoglobin, iron, vitamin B12, folate, sedimentation, GH, and IGF-1 (p<0.05). Injection compliance scores and the relationships between the scales; between baseline SAEUDF and IUBI (r=0.407), between ACROQOL and IUBI (r=0.329), between ACROQOL and PSQI (r=-0.689); eighth week between SAEUDF and PSQI (r = 0.455), between PSQI and PSQI (r = -0.390), between PSQI and ACROQOL (r = 0.320), between ACROQOL and PSQI (r = -0.709), sixteenth week; A statistically significant relationship was determined between ACROQOL and PSQI (r=-0.349) (p<0.05). Training based on the IMB model positively affected medication compliance, anthropometric-metabolic parameters, sleep, and quality of life in acromegaly patients. As a result, it is recommended to disseminate and use such interventions, organize educational programs for patients and their families about acromegaly, organize informative events to increase public awareness, establish certain training and certification standards for nurses, and encourage research on acromegaly.
