Researching the early diagnostic value of ichemic modified albumin in the diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke

Objective: In our study, we aimed to find a biomarker that can help diagnose new-onset acute ischemic stroke, which applied to the emergency department of Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Hospital in centers where neuroimaging cannot be performed. We investigated the early diagnostic value of ischemic modified albumin level in this biomarker group. Method: The ischemic modified albumin molecule was studied by ELISA method from the blood serum of 28 patients with acute ischemic stroke who applied to Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Hospital Emergency Service and 28 control groups who met the exclusion criteria. İMA levels were studied by taking blood samples from patients diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke at admission (0.hour) and 1st hour. Results: When the 0 hour (14167±5793) IMA values of the patients were compared with the control group (12593±5037) IMA values, no statistically significant difference was found. When the 1st hour (14459±7056) IMA values of the patient were examined, no statistically significant difference was found compared to the control group IMA values. When we compared the patients' NIHSS scores (mean: 4.29±4.822, minimum:0, maximum:21) and IMA 0th Hour and 1st Hour values, no statistically significant difference was found again. Again in our study, no statistically significant difference was found when the Oxford Stroke Classification and 0th Hour and 1st Hour IMA values were compared. Conclusion: In our study, no statistically significant difference was found between the mean IMA values of the acute ischemic stroke patient group and the mean IMA values of the control group. As a result of these findings, it will be more directive to reveal multicenter studies with large patient groups in terms of using serum IMA values as a diagnostic parameter in patients with suspected acute ischemic stroke.
