Abstract (EN)
Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is a sickness that diagnosing rate is getting increase in parallel with developments of diagnosing methods and if it is not proper cured that can cause death.Right heart failure is an important parameter that determine to the violence of thromboembolitic sickness, thrombolic curing method and increasing mortality in acute PTE.Echocardiography is most frequently applied examination procedure of diagnosing for right heart failure. Multi-slice computer tomography (MSCT) is widely used for diagnosing acute embolism. In this research, after comparing of MSCT effectiveness together with echocardiography because of the detection of signs supporting the right heart failure with MSCT, and also together with the diagnosis of acute embolism and signs of right heart failure is reported to clinicians on the same time, we aimed to investigation of whether the time and economically beneficial of those comparisons.Between December 2006 and August 2009, patients with the suspicion of PE were subjected to CTA with preliminary PE diagnosis at Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital, Department of Radiology, Diyarbakır. After Computed Tomography Pulmonary Angiography (CTPA) examination and evaluation of the request sent from the field as a result of the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism in 91 patients (36 male, 55 female) were included. The mean age of 91 patients were found as 53.69 (min. 15 ? max. 88 years old) in the study. Also, mean ages for female and male patients were found as 57 and 54.4 years, respectively. All examinations were evaluated retrospectively in patients undergoing shooting with Multi-Slice Computer Tomography Angiography (MSCTA) protocol. In patients, the presence of statistical correlation between signs that support the right heart failure with MSCT (midventriküler inner diameter ratio is above 1, and to the left deviation at the interventricular septum) and echocardiographic findings were investigated and the result was found statistically significant. During CTPA examination, differences between the mean diameters of the pulmonary vein of positive and negative patients in terms of right heart dysfunction were evaluated and differences were not found statistically significant (p>0,05).Similarly, during CTPA and echocardiographic examination, differences between the mean diameters of the pulmonary vein of positive and negative patients in terms of right heart dysfunction were evaluated and differences were not found statistically significant (p>0,05).Keywords : Pulmonary thromboembolism (PE), Multi-slice computer tomography (MSCT), echocardiography
