Abstract (EN)

Objective: Find association with presence, severity and course of value lesions, comparing pre-treatment and post-treatment variables and whole blood parameters between patients with diagnose acute rheumatic fever (ARF) in treatment and healthy control group. So, have an idea about course of ARF, which can be chronic and cause of important morbidity by using whole blood parameters, which are routinely and cheep tests. Material and Methods: Blood parameters, clinical and echocardiographic findings of patients diagnosed with diagnose AFR were retrospectively used at the Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pediatric Cardiology, between January 2012 and December 2016. Results: Compared whole blood parameters and echocardiographic findings; during diagnose ARF, after acute period of ARF and healthy control group. In our study, hemoglobin, number of white blood cells, neutrophils/lymphocytes ratio (N/L), mean platelet volume (MPV), red cell distribution width (RDW), C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) were examined. In our study, whole blood parameters of patients with diagnose ARF were istatistically compared with healthy control groups (pre and post treatment) accordance severe carditis and valvular lesions. In our study, values of hemoglobin and RDW were lower than healthy control group and differences between their values were istatistically significant (p<0,05). After treatment, an increase detected in RDW values and returning to health on valvular lesions. The number of leukocytes were istatistically similar before and after treatment for the patients with diagnose ARF (p>0,05). For the patients with diagnose ARF; N/L ratio, CRP, ESR values higher than healthy control groups values and istatistically significant (p<0,05). The MPV values were not different and istatistically significant before and after treatment between patients with diagnose ARF and healthy control group (p>0,05). Conclusion: Returning to normal values for Hb and RDW, from low values during diagnosis, show us good prognosis for valvular lesions, but N/L ratio, MPV and number of leukocytes not effective on progress and non-significant.
