Abstraction and nature themes in Alaybey Karoğlu's paintings

The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate Alaybey Karoğlu's abstractions and nature motifs in his paintings, and to analyze and explain the abstract findings in his works. In this study, the focus is on A. Karoğlu's life and art, and the different phases of his paintings have been thoroughly examined. Description, analysis, and artwork analysis have been conducted. The qualitative research design of "case study" has been used to collect data, and source analyses have been performed, meticulously examining the art pieces. Moreover, semi-structured interviews were conducted with Alaybey Karoğlu, and the audio recordings were transcribed. In the thesis, 16 works were purposefully selected for examination and interpreted using the descriptive analysis method, establishing conceptual relationships. The artist under examination skillfully combines abstraction with nature motifs in his paintings to create his unique artistic expression. By reflecting natural landscapes through the method of abstraction, he aims to evoke a different perspective and deep emotions in the audience. The artist enriches his works with creative structures and layers of meaning, providing the audience with an impressive and authentic experience. As a result of the research, it was observed that in the artist's works, he draws from impressions of nature and combines them with original abstractions, contemporary expressions, and a creative mindset, thus making references to Turkish culture and tradition. The artist's approach to nature abstraction is lyrical, expressive, and musical, creating a harmonious unity. A. Karoğlu's artworks encourage the audience to establish a deeper connection with nature. This approach has earned the artist a significant place in contemporary Turkish Painting, and he contributes uniquely to Turkish art and aesthetics.
