Allergic rinitated patients aaserotoninetransporter gen polymorphismincreasing the existence

Aim:Allergicrhinitisisthemostcommonform ofallergicdiseasesandis seeninthegeneralpopulationby18-40%.Thefactorsthatcauseallergicdiseases canvarydependingonclimatic,geographical,culturalandsocialconditions.Theaim ofourstudy is to determine the association ofallergic rhinitis with gene polymorphismofserotonin. Method:Thisstudywascarriedoutwithagroupof100patientswhowere allergicrhinitisandacontrolgroupof100withoutanyallergicrhinitisconsistingof 200 intheagerangeof15-60yearswhoappliedtotheEar,NoseandThroat polyclinicofErzincanUniversityMedicalFacultyPeripheralbloodsamplesweretaken from patientswhowerediagnosedwithallergicrhinitisbyanamnesis,examination andpricktest,andhealthycontrolgroup,andtheirgeneticanalyzes5-HTTGPwere examinedbyTaqManprobmethod.Chi-squaretestwasusedinstatisticalanalyzes. Results:Atotalof200patients(100patientsand100controlgroups)were includedinthestudy,129(64.5%)werefemaleand71(35.5%)weremale.Themean ageofparticipantswas34.5±14.6(min:20,max:65).Whengenderdistributionsare analyzed,79%ofpatientsarewomen.Therewasasignificantdifferencebetween groupsaccordingtosex(p<0.01).Whenthepatientandcontrolgroupwere comparedaccordingtogeneticpolymorphism andplaceofresidence,nosignificant differencewasfoundbetweenpatientandcontrolgroups. In61%ofpatientswithallergicrhinitis,thecomplaintswereseasonal.TheAR frequencywasfoundtobehigherinwomenthaninmen,andwaslivingmoreinthe vii centerthaninthevillagers.5-HTTpolymorphism studywasfoundtypemutantof geneticaccordingtosex,placeofresidence,asthmafrequencyandallergyperiodin thepatientgroup. Whenpolymorphism wasexaminedinthecontrolgroupaccordingtosexand placeofresidence,themostcommontypewasMutanttype.Therewasnodifference inthepolymorphismaccordingtosexandplaceofresidence. Conclusion:ThegenotypesofSerotoninTransporterGenePolymorphism by TaqManprobmethodbetweenthepatientswithallergyandthecontrolgroupwere notfoundtobestatisticallysignificantinmutantandheterozygoustypeofgenetic analysisinourstudy.
