Transferring to the translated text and analysis of Ali Kemal's Is Rasid Historian or Poet?

Ali Kemal is a journalist, politician and intellectual who took part in his writing life at the turning points of Turkish political history such as Constitutional Monarchy, Armistice and the war of independence. He did not hesitate to express his thoughts in both literary works and newspaper articles, and continued to write actively until the end of his life, in a line that could be called an oppositional one. As a result of the author's versatile and active life, his ideas and suggestions remain an attractive field for researchers. The subject of this study, Is Raşit Historian or Poet?, has emerged as the product of Ali Kemal's works during the First World War, which he gave himself to research on ancient literature and history by staying away from his writing life. This work, published in the Sancakçıyan printing house in 1918, focuses on the poets and historiography of Raşit Mehmet Efendi, the well-known poet and chronicler of the 18th century. In this work, Ali Kemal tried to determine in which of these two areas Raşit is talented, but not limited to this, he also conveyed his views on political, historical and literary issues through his work. This study covers the evaluation of Ali Kemal's work titled Is Rasit Historian or Poet? in terms of the topics covered by transferring to Latin letters. Another aim of the study is to determine Ali Kemal's various views on history and literature based on his views here. In the first part of the study, information is given about Ali Kemal's life, art and works. In the second part, the masthead, reason for writing, genre, style and content of the work transferred to the translated text are evaluated. In the third part, the unknown words are given in the text and in the dictionary format by transferring the Is Rasit Historian or Poet? printed in Arabic letters to Latin letters.
