Abdullah Ibn Abbas's understanding of hadith within the frame of the narration "O my lord, teach him the book and the wisdom

The main objective of the present study is to analyze whether the prayer which is attributed to the Abdullah Ibn Abbâs, the uncle of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh, ) in different ways has any effect on the 'ilm (knowledge) of him or the respect shown to it by the companions. Besides, his seeing of Cabrail and Cabrail' s report about him as being able to have 'ilm to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) tried to be sheded light on by being associated to the afore mentioned prayer. In consequence of evaluations of sanad (chain of revelation) and matn (text) obtained by the sources, the terms of hikmah (wisdom), fiqh, kitab and ta'wil have been laid stress on and additionally by taking into consideration the competence of Ibn Abbâs on Islamic Sciences and the factors which enable him to gain this competence it is concluded that the prayer has had effect on the 'ilm of Ibn Abbâs.
