Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacies of some pre-emergence (Oxyfluorfen, Pendimethalin+ Terbuthylazine) and post-emergence (Glufosinate-ammonium, Glyphosate, Nicosulfuron, 2,4-D, Bentazon, Bentazone + İmazamox) herbicides used in maize, peanut, soybean and citrus growing areas for the control of Amaranthus palmeri which is potential invasive weed species observed for the first time in Turkey in East parts of Adana province as well as in Osmaniye and Hatay provinces. Herbicides used in these studies conducted under greenhouse conditions were applied at recommended doses against A. palmeri. Pre-emergence herbicides were applied at dry and wet soil conditions; post-emergence herbicides were applied at early and late growth stages. Results showed that both pre-emergence herbicides provided acceptable effect on this weed at both soil moisture conditions. In the case of post-emergence herbicides glufosinate-ammonium, glyphosate and 2,4-D amine herbicides controlled A. palmeri effectively when applied as early treatments. All other herbicides provided some effects as compared to control but these effects were insufficient for the control. Late treatments of herbicides gave poor control of A. palmeri. As the result of these studies two pre-emergence and 3 post-emergence herbicides were determined which can be used to control A. palmeri as well as to avoid the invasion.
