Evolving the scale of anxiety resources of the adolescents who lie in hospital for surgery

This study was planned methodical research to evolvate ?the scale of anxiety resources of the adolescents hospitalizes for surgical operation when they accepted and under gone an operation because disease and operation are important anxiety resources among adolescents.The study was performed in Gaziantep Kocatepe Primary School (GKPS), Gaziantep Emine Konukoğlu High School (GEKHS), Gaziantep 25 Aralık Public Hospital (GAPH), Gaziantep University Sahinbey Research Hospital (GUSRH) after taking the allowance written and spoken, between the dates March 2007-September 2007.The volunteer group was composed via simple random sampling from GKPS, GEKHS, GAPH and GUSRH. 141 adolescents who accepted to the hospital for surgical operation and 302 healthy adolescents joined the study.As a tool to collect data the scale of anxiety resources about surgery evolved by the researcher and adolescent consent form were used.To assess the data obtained from the study, SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 10.0 program was used for statistical analysis. To assess the investigation data, besides definitive statistical methods (average, standard deviation), to compare the quantitative data Oneway Anova for three groups and Tukey HDS test were used. For assessment of two groups? student t test was used. The questions at the scale developed were classified via factor analysis method. The results are at 95% confidence interval and p significance value is <0, 05.Reliability and validity alpha coefficient of ?The scale of anxiety resources of the adolescents who lie in hospital for surgery? was evaluated as 0, 92. The variance indicated by the factors which take place in the scale was evaluated 53, 3 %.The findings obtained via investigation revealed that the scale of anxiety resources of the adolescents who lie in hospital for surgery is valid and confidential, so it could be used for such purposes.Keywords: Adolescent, surgery, anxiety, scale.
