Nurses working in the operating room drills-cutting tools,and factors affecting the risk of injury

This research, operating room nurses penetrating stab injuries, and to determine the factors that affect it, the precautions to be taken to prevent these injuries and it's a descriptive study aimed to evaluate problem-solving skills of the operating room nurses where in İstanbul in a private hospital group. During 1 January to 30 April 2013 to evaulate protect and problem solving skills of 85 operating room nurses, an interview form which contains 42 questions applied to them. Descriptive statistics of the data obtained from the nurses who work in the operating room, standard deviation, were used and compared with the rate and frequency values. Kolmogorov-smirnov test, t test, Mann-Whitney U test, chi-square test and Pearson correlation analysis was used to test fisher. The inernal consistency of the factors was assessed by Cronbach's alpha. SPSS 21.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Operating room nurses in the study 43,5% 1-5 times in the past year experienced personal injury. Nurses, 56,5% were graduated. Operating room nurses in the hospital of the study, 88,2% more than general surgery operations which have entered the maximum of injury experienced by the right hand, with the most common injuries experienced hours of 08:00 to 11:59 during the time of surgery was 34,1%. operating room nurses have noted that most suture needle injury when installing. Showed that the vast majority of nurses to move as fast as the cause of injury. 56,5% after injury, the injured surface removed her with an antiseptic solution. Nurses, 52,9% of reported injury. Surgery patients who are know to be an infectious disease nurses, 34,1% lived in injury. Operating room nurses, 81,2% stated that they always received preventive measures. Nurses does not use protective measures have been the most important reason for being able to move freely. Injury living in the age of the nurses, operating room working time of injury was signiflacantly higher compared to those who have never experienced. At the end of this study, the operating room nurses who work more hours than their injuries were identified. The reason for this complicated surgery to take more frequent and more to help the surgical team during surgery is considered as a cause. This result is in line with the nurses, that may arise as a result of stab injuries and their in-servise training on infectious diseases may be useful in the implementation of programs. Nurses working time increases with problem-solving abilities. For this reason, new recruits nurses in-service training programs organized to develop problem-solving skills, supported by managers.
