The role of Muslims on the Turkish National Struggle

Many people have immigrated in United States of America from Europe and Asia since the USA was founded. Some of these immigrants are Muslims who are citizens of the Ottoman Empire. Especially with the migration that started with the facilitation of transportation in the 19th century, a Muslim immigrant population was formed in the USA. Immigrants was usually migrated from economic reasons. They wanted to achieve financial welfare and return to their homeland. They could not easy adopt to social life in land of opportunity because they are foreign minority. Even some of them did not learn to language in USA for they scared lose to that the own traditions and customs. Muslims get use to difficult USA life from they builted social organization in there. Especially organization of the Muslims in America had very important for the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on National Struggle Period. The War against Allies in Anatolia has carried the social organization dimension of the Muslims in the USA to an economic and political dimension for the benefit of the National Struggle. Economically, Muslims had financial support for Himaye-i Etfal and Hilâl-i Ahmer Societies by means of form an associations in USA for benefit of Independence War orphans. Politically, Muslims exposition every aspect of the National Struggle that started in Anatolia to the public through the press. They published their own newspapers in the USA and even played a role in international relations. In addition, they fought against activities that served the negative Muslim Turks perception in the USA, and they demonstrated these activities through letters to the Anatolian people. The Muslim Turkish community, who are Ottoman immigrants in the USA, did not spare their contribution to their homeland from thousands of kilometers away through non-governmental organizations due to the position they took.
