ABSTRACTPh.D. THESISA STUDY ON MECHANIZATION PLANNING IN AMIK PLAIN,DATABASE FORMATION OF THE POSSIBILITIES OF AGRICULTURALMACHINERY OWNERSHIP AND THEIR ASSESSMENTSercan SAYINDEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL MACHINERYINSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCESUNIVERSITY OF ÇUKUROVA: Prof. Dr. Faruk ÖZGÜVENSupervisor: Year: 2006, Pages: 108: Prof. Dr. Faruk ÖZGÜVENJury: Prof. Dr. Aykut GÜL: Assoc. SAYIn this research, it was tried to determine the mechanization characteristics of Amikplain, which is located in Hatay province. It was also aimed to determine the optimum tractorpto powers and machinery capacities with respect to 5 different land sizes and 8 differentcrop patterns. Optimum values were statistically compared with the original figures. In thestudy, below mechanization characteristics were found: the average tractor engine powerwas 49,1 kW, tractor power per cultivated area was 4,1 kW/ha, number of tractors per 1000ha was 84, arable land per tractor was 11,9 ha and weight of the equipment per tractor was4.098 kg. The reason that the values appeared to be rather high compared with the averagevalues of Turkey, lies in the fact that more than 50% of the study area was used forpolyculture.Maximum pto power was required for 100% cotton pattern. Total power requirementfor an area of 5 ha was 16 kW and the power required for unit area was found to be 3,2kW/ha. The total requirement seemed to increase up to 93 kW in 50 ha production areawhereas it dropped down to 1,86 kW/ha for the unit area. Optimum power requirements forvarious crop patterns ranged between 0,54 kW/ha and 3,44 kW/ha depending on certainproduction areas. Considering the crop patterns cultivated commonly in the region and themagnitudes of production areas, it was found out that pto power required per unit area shouldbe between 2,0 kW/ha and 3,4 kW/ha.In farms with an area below 20 ha, most of the dimensions of existing machinery, exceed optimum ranges even under 500 hours yearly working time for tractors.Amik plain, mechanization planning, optimum tractor pto power, optimumKey Words :machine capacity, machinery selectionII
