The factors ensuring motivations of teachers at Anatolian high schools in their proffesional efficiencies (Beşiktaş example)

The aim of this study is to determine the factors motivating teachers at Anatolian High Schools, and classify them within the context of internal and external factors. In this study, we have attempted to set forth whether the internal or the external factors are more dominant and increase motivations of teachers.The scope of this study consists of the 5 Anatolian High Schools and 208 teachers functioning in them in Beşiktaş, İstanbul during the academic year of 2007- 2008. This study is composed of three parts: Motivation and related basic concepts are explained in the first part; whereas motivation theories are described in the second part, and the third part contains interpratations of the findings obtained from the applied scale. Purpose-built scale was used as the data collection tool in the study. In scale application, volunteerism has been considered. The scale form used in this study is the ?Minnesota Job Satisfaction? scale. The said scale is used for measuring job satisfaction levels of the teachers and includes twenty questions. For determination of the job satisfaction, the question ?In this respect, how satisfied I am with my job?? is asked, and the replies consist of 5 point Likert scale.According to the results of the analysis conducted, there is a significant difference in perception of internal job satisfaction levels by the teachers at Anatolian High Schools based on the ?Sex? variable, ?Age? variable and ?Professional Seniority? variable. On the other hand, significant difference in perception of external job satisfaction levels by the teachers at Anatolian High Schools has been determined in only ?Professional Seniority? variable. There is no significant difference among perceptions of the job satisfaction levels by the teachers based on the other variables.
