Abstract (EN)

There are a lot of architectural works which can be regarded as the visual documents of Turkish-Islamic arts in Anatolian territories. The motifs and compositions of these works have been one each blended reflections of Turkish culture and Islamic faith. The faith of "Unity" in Islamic mysticism always has been in learning, science and, art; Turks' acceptance of Islam and meeting with mysticism have been folded the understanding of Turkish-Islamic art to a unique genre. In this study, Kufic writing types are mentioned and their symbolic meanings are included. According to the thesis subject, information is given about some Kufic letters which we established in the architectural decorations of the Anatolian Seljuks period. The structures where the letters found were identified and their drawings are made. With this study, it is aimed to evaluate the Kufic in Turkish-Islamic arts and its applications in architectural decorations from a different perspective and to make new definitions.
