Abstract (EN)
Aim: Aim of this study is to investigate the histopatological, biochemical and clinical efficiency of Ankaferd Blood Stopper (ABS) in prevention of possible İntraabdominal adhesions an rats undergoing abdominal surgeryMethot: In this study, 40 female, eight to ten month?s old 300±30 gram Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four groups. Ketamin HCL (70 mg/kg IM) was used for sedation. Antimezenteric front side of the cecum was travmatized by a strile sponge until serozal hemorrhagic petechiaes appeared. On the petechiaes area, 1ml physiological serum for the control group and 0,5ml Ankaferd Blood Stopper (ABS) to thesecond group, 1ml to the third group and 2ml to the fourth group was sprayed. For ten days Standard rat diet was continued and on the eleventh day rats were sacrified. For macroscopik evaluation `Blauer?s Macroscopik scala?, and for microscopik evaluation `Zühlke Microscopik adhesion classification? was used. Total antioxidan status (TAS), total oxidan status (TOS) ve oxidan status index (OSI) was studied. Statistical analysis was evaluated by Tukey ve ANOVA tests.Findings: As the ABS amount used increased a significant increase of microscopic fibroblast and vascularisation was observed (p<0.05 ). Adhesion degree was least in the group that was given serum physiologic when compared to the other groups. As the amount of ABS used in the groups increased, the macroscopic adhesion thickness and spread increased. While, in group 1 in stage 1 %88.9 of the rats were found; in group 4 in stage 3 and 4 50% of the rats were found. No any rats were found in group 1 in stage 4. 12.5% of rats were found in gruo 4 in stage 1. There was no significant difference found between the TAS, TOS, OSI values of the groups (p>0.05).Conclusion: Our study detected that ABS is not efficient on preventing İntraabdominal adhesions, on the contrary it was detected that the more ABS amount used increased, the more adhesions increased.Key Words: Ankaferd Blood Stopper (ABS), Abdominal Surgery, Adhesion, Albino Wistar Rat, Serum Physiological.
