Abstract (EN)
During the Early Republican Period, a total of 34 schools were built in the center, villages and sub-districts of Antalya's Elmalı district. During the field work, 16 village schools and 10 teacher lodgings that have survived to the present day have been identified. The earliest dated school found on site is Yuva Primary School, which was built in 1936. Schools in Yuva, Tavullar, Gökpınar, Küçüksöğle and Avşar were repaired. The schools in Yuva and Tavullar continue to be used for educational purposes. Schools in Gökpınar and Avşar operate as meeting rooms. 11 schools and 7 teacher lodgings identified during the fieldwork are inactive today. Teachers' lodgings in Tekke, Yalnızdam and Tavullar continue to be used with the same function. Teachers' lodgings in the first and second schools in Dereköy and schools in Ovacık and Afşar were built adjacent to the school. The teacher's lodging in the schools in İslamlar, Özdemir, Hacıyusuflar, Macun, Tavullar, Bayındır and in the second school in Küçüksöğle was designed independently of the school building. Schools in Gökpınar, Yuva and Gölova do not have teacher housing. In the first years of the Republic, the Practice Bureau (Construction Department) was established under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education. Accordingly, it has been determined that the school and teacher's lodging buildings were built according to the type projects made by the Construction Department. It is seen that the buildings in the region were built with local materials such as stone, wood and adobe. It was determined that the 16 village schools examined were designed simply and modernly in accordance with the Second National Architecture style in the Early Republican Period. In addition to the stylistic understanding of the period, it was determined that simple and functional designs were applied in the villages with the least expense due to the economic conditions.
