A study on the Antalya Konyaalti coastal promenade in the context of successful public space components

In this study, it was tried to determine the success level of the coastal promenade designed and implemented alongside with Antalya Konyaaltı Beach as a public space. The opinions of the public and experts were taken and analyzed with a survey study prepared on the basis of access and connections, activities and uses, comfort and image, socialization, and landscape and their sub-components, which are considered as the components of a successful public space. According to the results obtained from the study carried out with the face-to-face survey method, Konyaaltı Coastal Promenade is a successful public open space in general term. The area was found to be very successful especially in terms of activities and uses, socialization and comfort and image. However, the promenade contains deficiencies in terms of some sub-components. In summers and winters, there are inadequacies in terms of shading and protection from precipitation, as well as public transportation and access by bicycle. The area was also found not sufficient in terms of vehicle and bicycle parking spaces and various outdoor furniture and sculptures. Some suggestions were made for the identified problems.
