Brothel culture and prostitution in ancient Hellen geography

The institution of prostitution, which is one of the subjects left behind the scenes on the stage of history, is a phenomenon that has continued its existence in societies and cultures, although it is refrained from being talked about. This institution, which has become a taboo in today's conditions, is a visible part of daily life in the leading civilizations of the Ancient Age. In the process from individual clusters to urbanization, the institution of prostitution not only existed in the society with its religious structure, but also became a commercial commodity that we are familiar with today. The Hellenic culture, which includes prostitution in crowds, is one of the civilizations that makes this institution almost legal. In the thesis, the Hellenic culture was centered in the context of prostitution, and this institution was examined without moving too far from the focus point. The aim of the study is to reveal that this subject, which is refrained from working on, is one of the important factors affecting the society, together with the examination of limited ancient sources and academic studies. In addition, it is aimed to reduce the literature infertility caused by the subject of the thesis. The examination of this institution, which does not lag behind the others in social issues related to the Hellenic culture and even has traces of important cultural values such as religion, politics, social life and architecture, has also been an answer to where the seeds of the prostitution culture were planted, which have been reflected from the past to the present.
