Abstract (EN)

In this documentary project, it is aimed to introduce Samandağ district of Hatay and the richness of the Hellenistic Period of the city of Selucia Pieria with its name in ancient times. In order to protect the city and the port of the Emperor Vespasianus from floods, the idea of shedding flood waters by changing the stream bed of the earth coming out of Mount Moussa was passed on; the tunnel was opened 1380 meters long by carving the mountain with works based on body power. Tunnel is known as a "Roman Engineering Project." Necropolis in the vicinity of the tunnel is seen in the rock tombs (Cave of the Besikli). The motifs of seafood such as oysters and mussels on the ceiling of the Cave of Besikli are seen as an art of ornamentation. Remains of Dor Sanctuary are visited by local and foreign tourists in almost every season of the year. Nowadays, these historical monuments are facing the danger of extinction because of the lack of sensitivity.
