Özet (EN)

Plants have a high number of benefits that can be much applicable to developing the best medicinal purposes. The different types extracts from the plants are using against a number of pathogens and other high-end diseases. In this context, these extracts from the plants also need to be takes care. One of the key pathogens that the plants can work well in dealing with human dental carriers' pathogens. The aim of the current investigation was to study the antimicrobial activities of some plant essential oils to know if they have antibacterial or antifungal activity on the some dental pathogens micrrorganisms. For this purpose, Essential oils were obtained from the Rosmarinus officinalis and Mentha longifolia aerial parts with Hydrodistillation by using Clevenger Apparatus. The Agar well diffusion method was used to determine the antimicrobial activity of the essential oils used. However the essential oils were analysed by GC – MS to determine the chemical composition. Tested micrrorganisms (Streptococcus mutans, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus sanguis, Staphylococcus aureus Lactobacillus acidophilus, Rothia mucilaginosa and Candida albicans) were taken from 72 patients applied to the Hospital and were used for this purpose. The results showed that both essential oils have some effects on the different microorganism. For instance, the mean values indicate that rosemary and mint essential oil has the most effect on the S. aureus bacteria while it has the least effect on E. coli. The results also has supported these essential oils can be use to the inhibition of the dental pathogenity and may support the teeth health.
