Examining relationship between personal carachteristic and emphaty level of trainer

The purpose of this study is to find out the association between leadership characteristics of coaches in different sport branches and their emphatic behavior levels. For this purpose, coaches' opinions were taken, the levels of their different leadership characteristics were found and the association between their leadership characteristics and their emphatic behavior levels was researched. The study was conducted to research the differences and associations between empathy and leadership levels of coaches in individual and team sports. Leadership empathy scales, the reliability and validity of which have previously been proven, were used. Screening method was used in this descriptive study. The study had relational screening model. Relational screening model is a general screening method. General screening models are conducted on the whole universe or on a group of samples taken from the universe in order to make a general judgment about the universe in a universe consisting of a great number of elements (Karasar, 2006). Within this context, there are two basic variables in the research model- dependent variable and independent variable. Coaches' behaviors in relation to their different leadership characteristics constitute the independent variable, while their emphatic behavior levels constitute the dependent variables. The sample population of the study consists of football, basketball, handball, tennis, swimming and archery coaches working in the province of Antalya and 236 coaches from this population were given the questionnaire. The results of the study showed that association between coaches' leadership and empathy was positive and when coaching experience period, level of education and the time worked in the branch were considered, positive association was found between these variables
