Abstract (EN)

Ill ABSTRACT ACCOUNTING PROCEDURES FOR EXPORT OPERATIONS IN EXPORT INTERMEDIARY FIRMS Ayşe Banu BAŞAR İşletme Anabilim Dalı (Muhasebe) Anadolu Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, Mart 2002 Danışman: Prof. Dr. Yılmaz BENLİGİRAY Export intermediary firms are the specialized firms that market one country's products abroad on behalf of manufacturers and suppliers. They are independent service firms connecting domestic manufacturers and foreign buyers and often act as the exclusive sales department for noncompetitve manufacturers. Although these firms take diffrent names in various countries, these firms have smilar functions such as, market research, loading and transporting, promotion, documentation, and finance. Among these functions, market research and promotion has an important place; because, these are important cost items for obtaining competitive advantage. Market research and promotion costs can be charged in Marketing Sales and Promotion Costs. Export process begins with intermediary contract which is signed between manufacturer and the export intermediary. The intermediary buys the export good from the manufacturer, determines the export price according to the delivery terms and then exports the goods. The accounting records for export transactions are smilar for payment terms, but the main differences may arise according to the procedures for export receivables. Exports also form an exception for V.A.T. The export intermediaries receives V.A.T returns from the which they have been charged before the export.
