Poetry and truth in Aristotle and Nietzsche's philosophy

The main problem that the study focuses on is to question the possibility of truth in poetry and while doing this, to evaluate the way poetry and truth are handled in the philosophies of Aristotle and Nietzsche from a holistic perspective. While determining what kind of relationship there is between poetry and truth, the two philosophers' theories of tragedy and their views on tragedy are presented in terms of their differences. As a matter of fact, while Aristotle gave information that could form a more technical and systematic whole in his evaluations about the art of poetry, Nietzsche repeated his evaluations about the art of poetry in many of his works, since he was an unsystematic philosopher. In this direction, if we examine it in terms of understanding, Aristotle stated that poetry consists of imitation, but still has an educational, instructive and pleasing side to the human spirit. Nietzsche, on the other hand, stated that the ancient Greek understanding of art, especially with Socrates, Plato and indirectly Aristotle, that the aspect of poetry that expresses the truth, has changed with the abandonment of mythos and has endeavored to return to the essence of poetry. The actions performed by the person who perceives the poem in life and the results of their actions are explained by considering the concepts of mythos, logos, ethos and pathos in the perspective of both Aristotle and Nietzsche. In terms of the history of philosophy, it has been examined how this journey, which took place in order to include the possibility of truth in poetry, opened a door through Nietzsche. In addition, the importance of metaphor for the language of poetry and human existence was emphasized, and the effects of poetic language on life were presented to attention.
